Safety

As a Zero-Injury Workplace, our target on every job is “zero recordables,” an industry term for a very human goal: that every Harris employee ends the work day in the same health as they began it. As strong as our safety record is, even one injury is too many.

A Culture of Safety

Safety is Fundamental from Conception to Completion

At Harris, safety is a key principle linking our customers, teams and company in a culture of safety, from design to completion.

Everyone is Personally Accountable for Safety

In everything we do, from every project to every customer, taking personal responsibility for safety is our highest priority.

Safer Projects Power Our Continuous Improvement

Beyond pipe, duct and controls, what sets Harris apart is personally caring for each other’s safety with a shared commitment to improvement.

Safety Practices and Protocols

  • Throughout the year, Harris employees receive safety training to stay current with injury prevention protocols.
  • Harris develops site-specific safety plans with business owners to determine health and safety measures.
  • Before every service call, Harris certified service technicians complete a pre-task plan that identifies potential safety hazards.
  • Following an injury or accident, we perform a safety audit and an in-depth investigation, and provide onsite “toolbox talks” to prevent future problems.

Safety by the Numbers

Harris consistently outperforms industry averages on key safety measures.

Experience Modification Rate (EMR)

EMR represents a company’s claims history and safety record as compared to other businesses in the same industry. An EMR of 1.0 is the benchmark average.
