The Real Harris: Meet Heather Olsen

What led you to this Industry?

“I started as a temp with Wasatch Controls (the company that Harris acquired in 2010) and became a part of the Harris family almost 11 years ago. Growing up in a construction family, it has always been a part of my life.”

What do you love about Harris?

“I am comfortable with the people and just love being around here. Harris and the teams I work with feel like extended family, it feels like home. The values people carry here are strong.”

What is the best part of your position, what are your main responsibilities?

“In my role, I lead the Salt Lake City Accounting/Business Systems team, as well as provide support for the western region’s Business Systems team members.”

What is one thing that Harris employees may not know about you?

“I used to be a state-certified medical assistant and worked mostly in pediatrics.”

What helps you be successful, or what keeps you up at night?

“Being detail-oriented, deadline-driven, and being willing to step up and do what it takes to get the job done. I’m passionate about making sure the job gets done right the first time. Deadlines keep me up at night, thinking about ways to fix a certain problem.”

What motivates you?

“My family … I also have a three-year-old Coonhound mix dog that I absolutely love spending time with. He helps me recharge at the end-of-the-day with trips to the dog park and playing with his friends.”

What do you wish the public knew about the company?

“I’m proud of our continued growth and success, and the amount of time and energy that everyone gives at Harris to make it great.”
