The Real Harris: Meet Jean Lodermeier

Tell us about your background. How did you get your start in the construction/service/BAS business?   

I started my accounting career auditing manufacturing and construction companies.  I quickly moved into the business side supporting accounting operations. This is my first full time exposure to the industry.

What drew you to Harris? What makes you stay?

The desire to help improve accounting operations.  I stay because we have a great collaborative team!  We work hard, but also have fun!  (Yes, accountants can have fun!)

What do you enjoy about working at Harris?

It’s great to work with such creative, smart, talented and passionate people.

What is the best part about your position?

Learning about the business and interacting will all the talented people across every region of the company.

What traits do you think are important for someone in your role to be successful?    

The ability to listen, provide leadership, adapt to an ever-changing environment and bring a positive attitude.

What are your main responsibilities and initiatives that you lead?

I have the privilege of leading the accounting team consisting of AP, AR, job cost and general accounting.  I also lead the finance side of the HBS system projects that will help set the company up for success for years to come.

What are you passionate about at work?

The people – building collaborative relationships and helping to teach others about finance.

How do you like to re-charge?

It depends on the season.  I love boating, hiking, being outdoors, dancing and watching football and hockey with great friends!

What keeps you up at night?

Getting the HBS system operational by the go-live date.  So much to do, so little time!

What are you most proud of at Harris?

Seeing how the accounting, finance and payroll team is working together after the reorganization.  A change like that is not easy, but we lean on each other to help build a better team.

What is one thing Harris employees wouldn’t know about you?

I was the class clown in high school and grew up driving tractor and milking cows on the farm.

How dedicated the teams are to work together and accomplish the task at hand.

The passion of success for the team.  I love to solve problems and help to improve processes.
