The Real Harris: Meet Jessica Peyton
Tell us about your background. How did you get your start in the construction/service/BAS business?
I started as an assistant dispatcher for a family-owned mechanical company. I was later promoted to lead dispatcher.
What drew you to Harris? What makes you stay?
I was impressed with the overall integrity of Harris. I saw opportunity for growth, and resources to be successful. While researching the company, I realized how important a work/life balance is for their employees. This was the icing on the cake since I had a 4-month-old at the time!
What do you enjoy about working at Harris?
I really enjoy the people I work with each day and feel fortunate to say I enjoy what I do. I love being apart of a company that has endless opportunities and never stops working on new strategies to grow.
What is the best part about your position?
The best part of my position would have to be the daily disfunction! I thrive on having to find solutions, and the all-around fast pace of the service industry.
What traits do you think are important for someone in your role to be successful?
They must be good at prioritizing, capable of multi-tasking, good at communicating, organized and having a customer-focused mindset to be successful in this role.
What are your main responsibilities and initiatives that you lead?
I was recently promoted to Assistant Project Manager and am currently the process of training for this new role. I am excited for this new opportunity, and I look forward to finding my own processes to help me excel in this new role.
What are you passionate about at work?
I believe customer service is the most important, as customers are the lifeline of our business.
How do you like to re-charge?
During the week, once dinner is done, I sit down with my 3-year-old son, and we color. This allows us time to talk about the highs and lows of his day, connect and is a great stress reliver for me! On the weekends, we are always looking for fun new adventures we can experience with our family and friends. Kids don’t stay little for long so making memories is so important for me.
What keeps you up at night?
Netflix! Once I start a new show, I just can’t stop!
What are you most proud of at Harris?
Harris is very open to new processes and procedures to streamline our service. I love that my ideals are heard and considered.
What is one thing Harris employees wouldn’t know about you?
Things that require a lot of detail and attention are done outside of my normal working hours-with so much going on around me daily for me. For me to fully focus, I allow myself time without distractions.
What drew you to this industry?
I fell into this industry by fate and have enjoyed my 10 plus years!
What do you wish the public knew about Harris?
Harris is more than just a company looking to make money. Harris cares about their customers satisfaction, employees well being and the communities around them.
What inspires you? What motivates you?
I love to learn new things, improve processes to make procedures more efficient and the satisfaction of achieving goals I set for myself.
