X-Ray Reject and Frozen In-Feed Conveyor
Harris was contracted to design and install conveyors that improved the quality control process for the customer.
The existing system was over 20 years old, frequently breaking down and causing product damage when pushed into the freezer. The pusher was pneumatic and too aggressive with the unfrozen pans causing product loss. The customer was also concerned with the unsanitary design, making the equipment hard to clean. In addition, the existing system did not have room to accommodate quality controls such as an x-ray machine with a divert system.
Harris was selected due to our superior washdown design. The rails, belts and rollers of our conveyors lift out of the heavy duty stainless steel frame allowing all parts to be cleaned thoroughly and without the use of tools.
The new system conveys 60 pans per minute through an x-ray machine. If metal is detected, the pans are diverted down a ramp where they are staged for manual removal. If the pans pass this quality check, they are then conveyed to a servo-driven push station.
With this system the customer has improved their quality, reduced product loss, improved cleanliness and reduced down time due to cleaning and break downs.
