Allegiant Stadium, Home of the Raiders

Harris was awarded the design-assist contract for the $1.8 billion Allegiant Stadium Home of the Raiders. The stadium features 65,000 seats (expandable to 72,000), 9 exclusive clubs, over 120 high-end suites, a retractable natural turf field, large operable walls and a clear ETFE roof. Harris provided HVAC and plumbing for the entire stadium. We designed an alternative HVAC strategy to optimize energy efficiency, conform with structural allowances and meet the budget targets.

The mechanical scope included several major challenges unique to stadium construction. Harris had to redesign the mechanical rooms due to lack of space and fit the plant into the event level, saving time and money. Harris spent over 80,000 shop hours fabricating assemblies and skids, both reducing on-site time and congestion. A huge undertaking during the project was installing the prefabricated main pipe rack and core risers distributing piping to the AHU rooms. Harris also installed the upper bowl ductwork that was up to 108″ diameter with oval fabric duct (the largest fabric duct project in the U.S).

With Harris’ national reach and locations, we were able to overcome these challenges with combined efforts and resources from our St. Paul, Las Vegas and Ogden offices. Harris’ BIM effort was also a major factor in the success of this project. We utilized the Harris Revit model to create permit package drawings, shortening the engineering time frame.
