Banner Del Webb Tower D
The Banner del Web project was a change of the lower floor of the building from a fully exhausted constant volume system to a variable air-volume system with return air. Harris was selected as the prime contractor based on qualifications and approach to execute the project. The project required modifying the existing 168,000 cfm AHU-24 and the replacement of the existing return air handling units. The (2) 200 hp. 84,000 cfm fans were removed from an in-phased plan so one fan could remain operational while the other was being replaced. Each 200-hp. fan was replaced with a 16-fan array and controls for the fans. Harris provided a detailed 36-hour replacement scheduled for 122,000 cfm return fan unit while the hospital remained in full operation.
Harris worked with the design team in a design assist roll to research and develop the strategy to minimize disruption to a fully occupied first floor while a new duct distribution system was installed throughout the entire level of the first floor. Through collaboration with the user groups and creative scheduling, Harris completed the installation while users of the spaces maintained their full operations.
