Compass Health Supportive Housing
The Compass Health Supportive Housing project is a five-story, 47,000-square-foot building with 82 housing units for low-income individuals with chronic mental illness. This includes studios and one- and two-bedroom units, with a recreation room, computer center and common laundry. The ground floor will have over 10,000 square feet for mental health and homelessness programs, including peer support, homeless outreach and housing stabilization.
Harris was the Design-Build partner for the project and was responsible for the plumbing systems for the new facility. This included the domestic hot water plant, domestic water services, sanitary and vent services, plumbing fixture and plumbing equipment. The project was located inside the city limits which made laydown and material delivery a challenge.
The project met the green building performance of the Evergreen Sustainable Development Standards 4.4. The key components of this standard as applied to our systems were added insulation R values for the domestic hot water system, temperature and demand control for the hot water recirculation pump, less than 0.5 gallons of hot water is need to reach design temperature at any fixture and all units’ hot water consumption was metered and data is collected monthly.
