Lake Stevens High School
Lake Stevens High School was a multi-phased modernization of the existing facility on a 35.6-acre site. The project was a mix of additions, modernization and replacements. The school remained occupied and operational throughout all phases of construction and was surrounded by single-family residential neighborhoods. The student population is 1,800 consisting of grades 10-12. Design involved new or renovated general classrooms, art classrooms, science, technology, engineering, music, special education, athletics, performing arts, two gymnasiums, an existing pool, cafeteria/commons, library and administrative offices.
The delivery method for plumbing and HVAC packages was mechanical contractor/construction manager or MC/CM and consisted of pre-construction and construction phases.
The HVAC system consists of strategic cooling utilizing packaged rooftop DX equipment and high performance VAV heating system. The existing boiler plant was expanded, presenting some challenging water treatment strategies due to the campus-style layout of the facilities. In addition, we renovated the existing pool and pool boiler room and upgraded the equipment.
