Levi’s Stadium
Harris was awarded the design-build plumbing contract for the $1.2 billion Levi’s Stadium project. The new stadium hosts the San Francisco 49ers NFL home games and other sports and entertainment events. Levi’s Stadium was the first NFL stadium to achieve LEED Gold certification.
Harris’ involvement early on was crucial to the design team to ensure the design was complete and constructible to meet the overall construction schedule. Construction started in April 2012 and was completed, on time, in July 2014. Harris utilized 100% prefabrication to ensure the plumbing scope was delivered prior to the handover and on time.
The stadium consists of 1.85 million square foot and features 165 luxury suites, 9,000 club seats, an open pedestrian plazas, community space, a 49ers team store, and a 49ers Hall of Fame. NFL capacity is 75,000 and can be extended to 83,000 for other events. The stadium can be used for a wide range of events including professional and college football, soccer, motocross, concerts, and civic events.
The stadium incorporates photovoltaic panels, a green roof, excellent public transit access, convenient bicycle parking, walking path access, water conserving plumbing fixtures, sophisticated building control systems, recycle materials and other sustainable design features. Harris also designed the reclaimed water system that recycles irrigation water and utilizes this for plumbing fixtures.
