U.S. Bank Stadium

Harris was awarded the design-assist mechanical contract for the $1 billion U.S. Bank Stadium project. The new stadium hosts the Minnesota Vikings’ NFL home games and other sports and entertainment events. Harris provided all plumbing, HVAC and temperature controls for the stadium, which was Minnesota’s largest commercial construction project to-date.

Early involvement with the design team helped Harris identify both the challenges and the opportunities that ultimately drove the design and the budget. To maximize productivity, control the quality of work and improve job site safety, all mechanical systems were modeled, manufactured, assembled and stored for “just-in-time delivery” to the job site. Thanks to the commitment of the entire project team, U.S. Bank Stadium was issued its certificate of occupancy six weeks ahead of schedule.

The mechanical scope included several major challenges unique to stadium construction – installation of the roof gutter snowmelt system, erection of 84-inch diameter upper bowl supply air ducts, fabrication and installation of the Event Level main pipe rack and rough-in of plumbing services to over (120) cooking kitchens, concessions and food service stations.

Harris assembled a dedicated, focused and experienced field team to take on the aggressive schedule and lead our community benefits programs. In addition to exceeding the work force and MBE/WBE subcontracting goals, Harris recruited and contributed to the training and development of over 150 tradespersons in the St. Paul and Minneapolis area.
