Minnesota United FC Stadium Field Heating
Harris provided and installed over 24 miles of PEX piping below the new Minnesota United playing field. Heat exchangers, pumps and HDPE piping were installed in a dedicated mechanical room located on service level. This project evolved into a design-assist project. We worked closely with the PEX supplier, Rehau, to design the size and routing of the underground piping.
Our CAD department created a working model that allowed us to pre-fabricate all of the HDPE piping for the mechanical room. Site logistics and a short installation schedule required our crews to work efficiently without loss of time due to installation issues. Deliveries had to be timed as to not stockpile materials for more than a few days. Our Piping General Foreman, Brad Kurkowski, was instrumental in the pre-planning phase of this project. Brad had just completed a similar successful project the prior year. That experience resulted in less man hours to complete the installation. This benefited the project as a whole because we exceeded our schedule expectations, allowing more time for the new natural grass playing field sod to take root before winter arrived.
