SFSU Science Replacement Building
Harris Bay Area has teamed up with Harris Design Studio on a design-build project for San Francisco State University. The new science building project includes 126,000 GSF building which will provide students with classrooms, learning labs, research labs, etc. This target value design project will include integrated project delivery process, tools, and behaviors and is expected to achieve LEED Gold. Harris was given the schematic design documents and is currently working on the design documents and will be responsible for the construction documents which is anticipated to be completed late summer of 2021. Construction is anticipated to start September of 2021, with the underground plumbing being Harris’ first scope of work to install.
The project has limited overhead space and the entire team was challenged to ensure that all utilities can be coordinated in these tight spaces. Harris worked with many manufactures to collaborate and ensure that the right equipment and distribution sizing was being utilized for the client and that would fit in these tight areas. We also worked with the end users to ensure that the design would be a satisfactory end product.
