Tesla Gigafactory
Harris’ scope included plumbing, mechanical piping, process piping and ductwork. This was a highly collaborative design-assist project. The facility is approximately 5.3 million square feet of operational production and advanced manufacturing space across multiple floors and several acres.
Harris delivered solutions on several challenges throughout the project. The local union hall was not adequately staffed for a project this size. Harris met with the top leaders of the International Unions to discuss nationwide workforce availability and develop recruiting strategies that could attract skilled labor to the project. Through this joint effort, Harris successfully recruited and placed over 350 out of state craft workers on the project in order to ensure that the schedule deadlines were achieved. Our expertise in BIM also played a major role in the successful financial outcome of the project. We utilized embedded parts and detailed bill of materials data within the BIM model that allowed us to produce accurate and real time budget data that informed the project team during design development and multi-trade coordination. With detailed documentation, exceptional communication and our expertise, Harris completed the project on time and under budget.
