U of M Physics and Nanotechnology Building

The University of Minnesota Physics and Nanotechnology Building houses 200 faculty, post-doctorate and graduate students, and visiting researchers. Harris was awarded the mechanical contract for this state-of-the-art facility and provided the HVAC, plumbing, piping, controls and fire protection. Harris worked with the construction team to complete this difficult lab-intensive project on-time and on budget.

Highlights of the new building include more than 43,000 square feet of highly flexible physics laboratories and laboratory support space. An additional 15,000 square feet has been dedicated to nanotechnology research (including a 5,000-square foot ISO class 6 clean room). Overall, the facility contains approximately 40 new research laboratories.

Harris was awarded the project during design development and provided design, budget and scope management services during preconstruction.
