WCC Student Housing
The Whatcom Community College Student House Phase 1 is an 89,000-square-foot, 221 bed dormitory facility. Additionally, it includes administration offices, public rest rooms, laundry, a mechanical equipment room, kitchen and community rooms. The structure is wood framing with electric cove heat in the dormitories, VRF in the offices and packaged DX units for the community rooms.
Harris contributed by developing an early schematic design budget that yielded excellent value for the owner. We were able design to this budget and execute the course of construction maintaining budget. We also presented multiple options to the domestic hot water heating plant and hot water delivery to the dormitories that allowed the project to achieve LEED Silver.
