GE Propane Vapor System
Harris worked with Standby Systems Inc to fabricate 13 skids for a General Electric propane vapor system to be installed in the country of Ghana, Africa. The skids, which were shipped internationally, contained piping, pumps, valves, heat exchangers, structural frames and supports for the metering and vaporization of the propane.
Framing and piping for the skids were constructed from 304 stainless steel, which quality specifications were required to meet the pressure equipment directive (PED) of the European Commission. Harris acquired the Hartford Steam Boiler UK procedure of Module BP-F Category IV, which allowed the equipment to be installed outside of the United States.
To compete with a demanding project schedule and fabrication quality standards, the skids were fabricated in both Harris’ Zumbrota and St. Paul, Minnesota facilities. To conserve space and maintain the fast-paced schedule, Harris used the Zumbrota facility to complete the welding of the spools and erection of the structural frames and the St. Paul warehouse was utilized to assemble the skids. This permitted the fabrication and assembly process to overlap allowing the project team to meet critical milestones.
