Hill AFB Fire Crash Rescue Building
The Hill Air Force Base located in northern Utah is the sixth largest employer in the state and home of the Ogden Air Logistics Complex which manages a wide range of aircrafts. The Hill AFB Fire Crash Rescue Facility supports the base’s flight line operations and is a critical life safety facility.
Harris took a Design-Build role on the project, working closely with Colvin Engineering to design and install the plumbing, piping and HVAC systems in this secure environment requiring an exceptional, careful approach to design and functionality. Life cycle cost analysis was presented on various systems to determine the best value for the project. A key challenge was to design and install the HVAC and plumbing systems to service this 24-hour operating facility. The Apparatus Bay included a Nederman vehicle exhaust system, with roof top heating and cooling, along with supplemental radiant heating equipment. The utilities within the apparatus bay included truck fill stations and support rooms.
Harris worked closely with the general contractor, key U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Base Fire Department to complete the project on-time and under budget.
