Phoenix International Raceway
The Phoenix International Raceway project was a combination of three phases; a renovation of the existing grandstands, new grandstands and 13 new buildings located in the infield of the track. Each phase included plumbing, sheetmetal ductwork for the suites, track operations, concessions, kitchens and toilet facilities. The project was scheduled in phases over two years with milestone dates that had to be met before the race events in April and November.
Race day could not be impacted by constructions delays. Plumbing fabrication was utilized for below-grade waste branches, as well as fabricated plumbing waste, vent and water. This helped to save time on the schedule. Being the design-build contractor enabled Harris to specify materials such as ProPress fittings for water piping, prefabricated double wall insulated grease duct, wire (Gripple) hanging systems for duct and pipe supports. These types of materials increased ease of installation and saved on installation time. Harris provided a positive experience for both the general contractor and client from start to finish.
