Marshfield Cancer Center + Hospital Expansion
Harris recently completed the Marshfield Clinic Health System’s 200,000-square foot hospital and a 40,000-square foot cancer center expansion. The project includes a new central heating and cooling plant. The clinic’s mechanical systems are currently connected by underground tunnels with the hospital feeding the cancer center from a central chilled water, hot water and medical gas system.
This fast track project was split into two phases with phase one, the cancer center having less than a one-year construction duration, including owner equipment. Phase two, the hospital was fully constructed and turned over in under 18 months.
Harris was brought on early in the process to start early procurement, target cost modeling, constructability and modular fabrication solutions. This allowed the project to maintain an extremely aggressive schedule. Providing options and updated pricing biweekly allowed the project stakeholders to know where the mechanical and plumbing budget was trending throughout preconstruction.
