Minnesota United FC Stadium
Harris has been selected by M.A. Mortenson as the mechanical partner for the new Minnesota United FC Stadium in the Midway area of St. Paul. The $250 million, 346,000-square foot, 19,600-seat stadium will be home to Major League Soccer (MLS) in Minnesota.
The Harris team was engaged early to help with conceptional budgeting and design influences. Our team is currently working alongside the owner, architect and engineer in a design-assist role. An initial challenge has been the depth of the sewage and rainwater systems, and the overall impact with the current water table of the stadium. The Harris team worked with the City of St. Paul to develop a variance from code on the pitch of the piping and added additional drainage sumps to reduce the depth of the pits.
Harris is providing BIM, HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, insulation, temperature controls and test and balance services. The field, otherwise known as the Pitch, will also have an undersoil heating system that will be installed by our Harris team.
The project began construction in July 2017 with an estimated completion by January 2019 in time for the start of the 2019 MLS season.
