Providence Academy Performing Arts Auditorium
Harris was given a fully designed design and spec job for the addition of an auditorium to Providence Academy school in Plymouth, Minnesota. Harris was responsible for the addition of tertiary systems for heating and chilled water, five air handling units and numerous VAV boxes.
One air handling unit installed feeds the auditorium seating area and it was essential to the project design that there was no air noise in this area of the auditorium. It was necessary to maintain a consistent temperature and humidity control for all of the auditorium’s woodwork and electrical equipment; the unit runs 24/7 to maintain these critical set points. The VAV’s in the auditorium were mounted below the seating area and are set up to maintain airflow that will not disturb the audience or the stage production. An additional air handling unit was also installed to serve the stage area and includes a smoke control mode for performances that use smoke for effect.
