Whidbey General Hospital Addition + Renovation
The Whidbey General Hospital Addition and Renovation project consisted of full mechanical scope for an addition and renovation to the existing facility. The addition consisted of 45 bed patient rooms, ICU rooms and labor and delivery rooms. The renovation included build out of pharmacy, lab and perioperative spaces. The HVAC systems included new penthouse air handlers feeding an VRF system.
The hospital’s domestic water supply source was an encased well and the water quality was poor. A water treatment system was installed and the domestic water piping distribution system was fused polypropylene. The use of the fused poly pipe was challenging which led to thorough and continuous supplier/vendor training and QA/QC field checks. This avoided risk of system wide leaks.
This project was also involved a design/assist contract modification for the build-out of a code compliant pharmacy.
