Solana Solar Generating Station

Harris completed a total of six projects for the Solana Generating Station. The solar power plant located near Gila Bend, Arizona features parabolic shaped mirrors mounted on structures that track the sun and concentrate the sun’s rays to provide heat to power a conventional turbine. Lookout Mountain Elementary School

The 85,000-square foot Lookout Mountain Elementary School project was unique in that Harris, working for Adolfson & Peterson Construction, was responsible for the installation of the HVAC system involving the installation of a geothermal field and water source heat pumps. Cascade Meadow

Harris provided a broad range of mechanical services for the construction of the wetlands and environmental science center Cascade Meadow. Mayo Clinic Richard O. Jacobson Building

Mayo Clinic opened the first facility in the Midwest capable of providing proton beam therapy used to treat cancer. The building features four treatment rooms that include a three-story, 190-ton mechanical apparatus (gantry) needed for the proton beam and a 20-ton magnet to guide the beam. Minnesota Correctional Facility – Faribault

The Minnesota Correctional Facility – Faribault is a medium-security, level-three facility. Harris provided mechanical services for the multi-phased expansion and renovation. The project included the addition of three new living units, program buildings (psychological, religious, volunteer and education services), dining/kitchen area and the renovation of the senior care/special needs facility. Harris installed mechanical systems that were designed to accommodate the anticipated expansion of Abbott Northwestern Hospital into a newly constructed a 6,600-square foot mechanical penthouse built on the rooftop of the hospital’s East Tower. Gopher Resource Smelter/Battery Recycling Plant

Looking to venture into a new region and join forces with a market leader, Harris partnered with Gopher Resource on the expansion and modification of a smelter/battery recycling plant for its wholly-owned subsidiary EnviroFocus Technologies. The new state-of-the-art facility in East Tampa replaced the facility’s existing plant doubling its recycling capabilities from 26,000 tons of lead per year to 130,000 tons of lead annually, or approximately 50,000 lead-acid batteries per day.
