Harris opens Harris Design Studio
St. Paul, MN (January 2020) – Harris announced that it has opened Harris Design Studio, a dedicated team of mechanical designers, building scientists, business development and BIM/VDC modelers who bridge the unique gap customers often face between the design and construction phases on a project. Studio professionals will utilize the latest design tools and practices to deliver, optimize or modify designs for construction.
The Studio will not only look to optimize the sizing, routing and location of equipment and distribution systems but also ensure that the systems’ controls are correctly applied and considered, to meet parameters and criteria including the climate, energy performance, aesthetic and resilience.
The Studio is led by John Gregory Williams, an engineering leader and creative problem solver with over fifteen years of experience in the construction industry. Williams has passion for the built environment and enjoys using his experience and skills in design leadership, sustainability, project management and MEP/Utilities systems engineering.
Most recently, he was the team leader for the Design and Engineering PM team for MEP & Utilities, LEED & Sustainably and BIM for the new airport in México City. Previously, he managed the MEP designs for the new Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. He was the mechanical EOR and lead SMEP design integrator for the innovative Apple Park in Cupertino.
“Being embedded within but separate from the construction teams allows an integrated workflow for the Studio to work as comfortably and seamlessly with program managers, architects, other engineering teams, construction managers and constructors.” stated Williams, VP of Harris Design Studio.
Harris Design Studio will be located in Oakland, California. For more information about Harris and its services, visit harriscompany.com or call 651.602.6500.
