The Real Harris: Meet Chia Kwong

Tell us about your background. How did you get your start in the construction/service/BAS business?

“I moved to the Bay Area in 2000 after I got my Finance degree and started my career working for Mechanical Contractors, assisting PM price out change estimate, monthly billings, and process approved change orders.”

What drew you to Harris? What makes you stay?

“My dream career after college was to work for a big company like Harris. I am excited to stay with Harris after the acquisition.”

What do you enjoy about working at Harris (what about the company itself made you want to work here)?

“The trust and the people. I like Harris because we have great supports from various departments such as Accounting + Payroll, HC, Marketing, ELT, IT/BIM, Purchasing, etc.”

What is the best part about your position (the day-to-day, people, a special project you were involved with)?

” I enjoy working with colleagues from different locations.”

What traits do you think are important for someone in your role to be successful?

“Multi-Tasking, Efficient Thinking and Detail Orientating.”

What are your main responsibilities and initiatives that you lead?

“My main responsibilities are supporting the HBA team including daily accounting functions to ensure accuracy and efficiency.   ”

What are you passionate about at work?

“I am passionate about seeing the growth of the company, dealing with GC teams and achieving great customer feedback.”

How do you like to re-charge?

“I like doing Yoga and spending time with my family. I also learned how to make my favorite Seafood Paella dish recently.”

What keeps you up at night?

“Family movie night at home at least 3 times a week.”

“I am proud to be part of Harris and working with friendly, passionate, and helpful coworkers.”

What is one thing Harris employees wouldn’t know about you?

“I used to afraid of dogs due to childhood experience, but this has changed since I have Kola, the little cute poodle given by my sister.”

“I am a strong believer of ‘A Strong Construction industry equals to a Strong Economy.'”
