The Real Harris: Meet Delores Johnson

What drew you to this industry?

“I started in construction 17 years ago as a file clerk for the McCarran International Airport Terminal 3 project in Las Vegas, Nevada. During that time, I worked for a few general contractors, took project management classes and continued to grow and develop proficiencies in the construction industry.”

What led you to Harris? What do you enjoy and what makes you stay?

“I started at Quality Mechanical Contractors in 2012 and was a service dispatcher when Harris purchased the company in 2016. I enjoy working for Harris because of the great structure and support system. I’ve been able to further my career here and continue to advance. I’m currently service manager for the Pacific Northwest service team and appreciate the support from Harris’ Las Vegas and Pacific Northwest team and my family that have kept me on this path.”

What are your main responsibilities? What is the best part of your position?

“I am responsible for the Bellingham service technicians. I became the Bellingham service manager in 2021, having supported field coordination and dispatch prior. Our Bellingham and Las Vegas teams experienced tremendous growth from 2019 and into 2020 and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed contributing to team’s success, especially during a pandemic.

“That’s the best part of my position as well – that constant communication I get to have with customers and our service technicians.”

What traits are important for success in your role? What are you passionate about at work?

“Communication is really key in my role; there are many moving parts. I’m really passionate about making sure our service technicians are happy and have plenty of work to keep them busy.”

How do you recharge? What motivates you?

“I LOVE to play BINGO!! That is the BEST recharge for me. And, definitely, my family is my motivation.”

What is something Harris employees may not know about you?

“I worked at a childcare center for 5 years.”

What are you most proud of at Harris?
“I am most proud of all our dispatchers. They are the front line to Service and can be thrown a ton of curve balls. They manage to keep that occasional train wreck moving at high speed and we so appreciate their work.”
