McKeown Community Center is the community center for Flynntown — the lower campus of Saint John’s University (SJU) — and is designed to the LEED Silver standard. To reduce energy usage efficient lighting, HVAC and plumbing systems were installed. Harris designed and installed controls systems that monitor energy usage in real time. Data is used by SJU physical plant workers and environmental studies students to adjust performance.

Adjacent to the newly constructed T-Mobile Arena, the home of the completed Monte Carlo Park Theater is the cornerstone for entertainment in the new Park District on the world-famous Las Vegas Strip.
Harris was selected to install new plumbing, piping and HVAC systems for the new concert hall/theater located inside the Monte Carlo Casino. This state-of-the-art theatre features seating for 5,200 guests across three seating levels, seven bars and one of the widest stages in the world.

Harris provided mechanical services for the new building that unites the Minnesota Departments of Agriculture and Health (MDA/MDH) in a single space. The project required the installation of 90,000 feet of piping. Since the building includes lab space, much of the piping had to be acid resistant to safely provide for chemical disposal. In addition, an acid neutralization tank was installed to facilitate in the dilution and neutralization of harmful wastes that are discharged from the laboratories.

Harris was selected by Sage Hospitality to replace the existing swimming pool energy recovery ventilator (ERV) within the hotel which was installed in 1988. The purpose of the ERV is to exhaust the warm, humid chlorinated air and supply fresh, dehumidified outside air to keep the pool environment comfortable for guests. Using a fixed-plate heat exchanger to move energy from one airstream to another, the ERV decreases the amount of cooling and heating needed to condition the incoming fresh air.

Harris worked as the prime contractor for Xcel Energy’s 5th Street Substation Transformer Cooling System Replacement project. The project involved demolishing the existing cooling system and installing an efficient, closed-loop system to service the new transformer.

The Cannon Falls High School Ventilation Improvement project had a very aggressive schedule. Nearly all the work needed to be completed during the summer months while school was not in session. At the peak, we had 40 people working on-site, in addition to those fabricating in the shop. At a time when the labor market was very tight, we were able to leverage resources from Harris’ Rochester, Zumbrota and St. Paul offices to complete the project without delay.
